NENGGIRI RAFTING ADVENTURE
At any point of the trip, you can always stop to observe animals tracks, or just indulge in bird-watching. Fishing spots are plentiful and bathing in the cool water can really do wonders for the tired body and mind. Indeed, all the aches and pains are justified by this wonderful rafting adventure.
The rafting adventure of Nenggiri ends at Kampung Star. The magic of her sublime wildnerness will surely become an unfogettable experience of a lifetime, an experience to be cherished forever.
The first night will be spent camping. Camping in a jungle environment is always a special occasion, especially the preparation! Guest are encouraged to set up their own tents and help in preparing dinner. And as you rest you will be lulled to sleep by the ever present cacophony of sounds - insects, frogs, birds and an occassional hooting of monkeys in the distance.Continuing the following day, the trip will bring you to interesting villages of the Orang Asli (aborigine settlements) at Kampung Wias and Kampung Pulat. Arriving at Kampung Pulat, you will be able to join in 'sewang' which is a unique opportunity that must not be missed.
The final leg of the journey continues the day after that to bring you a final series of exciting rapids to cross.
With experienced raftmaster on board for counsel and guide, the trip is not truly an obstacle course. In fact it adds up to the thrills and spills of the whole travel.
Ironically, the relief of succesfully traversing one rapid will make you eager to try the coming one, just for the sheer fun of it! Truly, the exicitement of whitewater rafting cannot be aptly described by more words.
The selected leg of the journey covers approximately 50 km, departing from Kuala Betis and ends at Kampung Setar.Normally a trip of 3 days and 2 nights are planned, but the arrangements can be tailored to suit to your requirements.A limestone cave, Gua Cha, is the first interesting stop over. This is an archaeological site that was believed to be used as a shelter by the prehistoric people. Relics, from the Hoabinh Period (carbonated to be of approximately 3000 years old) were discovered and are now displayed at the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur. Perhaps, the area was once the roaming territory for those prehistoric inhabitants, and you can only wonder at the secrets that are yet to be unravelled.
This is journey for those who are looking to get away from any forms of 'merchanized' travel.Unless you are willing to row, the speed of the travel depends entirely on the river current. The Nenggiri Water Rafting spans across nature's grand stage of majestic limestone outcrops with beautiful lush growth of tropical bushes and trees.
Being one of the four major tributaries (Lebir,Galas and Pergau being the other three), the Nenggiri has its source in the Lojing Hinglands, South-West of Kelantan. From the highlands, it flows through the backcountry of Kelantan, through a series of rapids to join the Galas River at Bertam. The Galas River is subsequently joined by the Pergau and Lebir to form the Kelantan River proper.
From one end the journey to another, the cruise is a revelation of adventure, excitement and fun. For into it, opens the world of riverrine wilderness, of swirling rapids, of games trails, of culture that is fast dissipating and of team spirit and self-motivation. Under adverse hardships and never knowing what to expect, the river cruise of Nenggiri is the experience that must be enjoyed and discovered.
